Fight breast cancer, go pink this October
Dubai colors itself pink as it once again joins the world in the fight against
breast cancer by promoting awareness through a series of activities for the
entire month of October.
Organized by Breast Cancer Arabia, the “Dubai Goes Pink” (and “Abu
Dhabi Goes Pink”) initiative kicked off in October 3 with yearly events in
support of breast cancer patients and advocates by spreading medically produced
and backed awareness programs. From spa treatments to walkathons to fundraising activities, events in the
region that support Pink October are unified to bring a stronger and louder
message to people in the region.
The city is abuzz reaching out and educating not only women but also the
community on the importance of early detection in preventing breast cancer, and in providing them information about treatments and who should provide
the treatment. Breast Cancer Arabia has also raised funds for the treatment of women
suffering from breast cancer.
Breast cancer is one of the biggest cause of death among women worldwide,
and is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the UAE. It is one of the
most preventable and curable disease, however, when caught or detected at the earliest
time possible.
