Delicious and affordable Arabic food at Aroos Damascus

Delectable yet reasonably priced. Those were the first things that came to mind when we tried out Aroos Damascus along Muraqqabat Road in Deira. It was highly recommended by a friend for its sumptuous Arabic food, specifically Lebanese and Syrian. For someone who hasn't tried Middle Eastern food in the Middle East, this was a must-do.

The restaurant was big enough to take up almost the entire block of the road, and I loved the outdoor seating fenced by real live greens. The evening temperature was bearable enough so we decided to dine al fresco.

Mixed Grill and Chicken on a Machine (half) were the orders of the day. Suffice it to say that it was marvelous. I am a big fan of chicken dishes, and their simple machine-cooked chicken was lip-smackingly savory. The piping hot bread, pickled fruits and vegetables, and the tasty hummus were simply delightful we couldn't get enough of them. Of course, the assorted grill meat were quite a feast. I zeroed in on the lamb.

Service was quite commendable, too. The waiters were attentive and courteous. I was especially impressed by the sound advice that this one waiter offered when we were about to order one whole chicken. A group of four little ladies ordering one whole chicken! The possible wastage from unfinished food must have worried the waiter so much he advised us to try half a chicken first, in case we might not be able to finish it all. And he was right! Aroos Damascus had big servings by my standards, and one can't help but appreciate the heads up.

Since we couldn't get enough of their yummy chicken, we decided to try their delivery services a few days after our visit. It was just as fantastic as when we first tasted it. We got the whole chicken delivered to our doorstep this time, and it came with all the works (pita bread, hummus, pickled sidings, and fries). Aroos Damascus has become a favorite.

Good location. Tasty food. Decent price. Superb service. Aroos Damascus has certainly endeared itself to us. Give it a try. They are open from 7 AM to 4 AM daily.
