Run the desert roads

Here's a one-of-a-kind marathon that's only in the Middle East. A run through the desert roads!

Newbies and seasoned runners can run through the wide deserts once more as the new season of the Dubai Desert Road Run kicks off this Saturday, September 27, 7 AM, at The Sevens Stadium along Al Ain Road in Dubai.

Held several times in one year, this friendly sporting event gives participants a chance to monitor their running progress and beat their own personal best over a series of 6 races. It is also a good venue to socialize with other participants.

The 10K run has different competing categories according to age groups from 14 years old and onwards. There are no categories for the 3k run, but it is open to all. Winners from both races will receive trophies, and all finishers will get medals.

Running in the middle of the desert is a nice experience especially at this time of the year when the temperatures are no longer scorching hot. If you can't make it to this Saturday's race, there are other races scheduled for the rest of the year and for the first half of 2015. The race dates for this season are September 27, November 1, December 20, February 21, April 25, and June 6, which is also dubbed the "Summer Scorcher."

Registration for the 10-kilometer race is only AED 85 and AED 50 for the 3-kilometer fun run. To register for the races, you can visit www.premieronline.com.
